Dan was elected in 2011 and again in 2013 to serve as a Vice President on the USPTA National Board of Directors. He served as Committee Chairman for USPTA Tournaments & Rankings, Awards and Diversity and Inclusion. Prior to being elected to the National Board of Directors, Dan served as the Immediate Past-President of the USPTA Midwest Division. He is also a past president of the Indiana USPTA. During his 27 years as a USPTA member, he has served the USPTA at both the state and division levels. He has volunteered in every capacity during 24 of those years. In January of 2006 he was hired as the Head Tennis Coach to start the men and women's tennis coach at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, IN. The tennis teams were added to the Warrior's athletic program in 2006 and began their first season of competition in the fall. In 2009 Coach Moster was named the ITA/NAIA Region III Men's Coach of the Year.
Prior to moving to Northern Indiana, Dan and his family lived in Indianapolis, where he was the head coach for the boy and girl's tennis teams at Lawrence Central High School and was on the tennis staff at Five Seasons Country Club. He also established Geist Tennis Management which provided a variety of tennis services to Indianapolis area country clubs, neighborhood associations, pro shops and daycare centers. From 1997-2001 he served as the general manager and director of tennis at the Anderson Sports Center in Anderson, Indiana. Prior to that he was the Director of Tennis at the Courthouse Racquet Club in Florence, AL.
Dan enjoys the variety that the tennis-teaching profession allows. He excels in tournament management, program development, creative teaching techniques, team coaching and club management. With a marketing and professional tennis management bachelor's degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, Dan began his teaching career in 1988, and has taught and coached tennis in Indiana and Alabama. From 1992 to 1995, Dan was the director for Rushville Parks and Recreation in Rushville, Ind., which he credits as helping prepare him for club management, as well as allowing him to coach high school and college tennis.
Dan is a former junior and adult USTA-sanctioned tournament player. He has experience as a USTA Zonal's Coach, USTA Area Competition Center Coach, Star Search Scout and NTRP verifier. For several years he was the assistant coach and then the head coach for the Marian Baird-Wood Cup(Junior Wightman Cup) coach for the U18 Northern Indiana team. From 1991 to 1995, Dan was the tennis director for the Indiana Special Olympics. In 1999, he received the USPTA Indiana Pro of the Year Award. He has served as a chairman and a presenter for several USPTA Midwest Division conventions, as well as an attendee at the USTA Tennis Teachers Conference and several USPTA World Conferences. Dan was president of the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association from 1992 to 1994, and has attended and presented for several of the association's annual conventions as well as other Midwest high school coaches conventions. Annually, he is one of the leaders in education credits among Midwest USPTA members and has been recoginzed nationally for his continued USPTA education.
Besides being an active member of the United States Professional Tennis Association, Dan is a USRSA-certified racquet stringer and while the coach at Indiana Tech, he was a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. He is currently completing requirements to apply for USPTA Master Professional status, and he is working to become a USPTA specialty course instructor and USPTA Tester. His future plans include writing a book or two.
His interests include professional and college sports, music, spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors and working in the yard.
